FreelanceHQ ("we," "us," or "our") operates the FreelanceHQ service. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information. We take your privacy seriously and only collect what we need to run the service.

What We Collect

When you use FreelanceHQ, we collect:

  • Account information: Email, name, and password (hashed)
  • Your business data: Clients, projects, time entries, invoices, and financial records
  • Usage analytics: Page views, feature usage (via Google Analytics)
  • Payment information: Subscription details handled by DodoPayments (we never see your credit card)

How We Use Your Data

We use your information to:

  • Provide and maintain the FreelanceHQ service
  • Process your subscription and payments
  • Send transactional emails (password resets, important updates)
  • Improve the product through usage analytics
  • Comply with legal obligations

We will never sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing.

Data Security

Your data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest (AES-256). Passwords are hashed with bcrypt. Access to your account is protected by secure authentication (NextAuth.js with JWT).

Data Storage & Retention

Your data is stored on Neon (PostgreSQL, hosted on AWS). We keep your data as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete all associated data within 30 days, except where legally required to retain it.

Third-Party Services

We use:

  • Neon: Database hosting
  • Vercel: Application hosting
  • DodoPayments: Payment processing (does not store credit cards with us)
  • Google Analytics: Usage analytics

Each service has its own privacy policy. We only share data necessary for them to provide their service.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access your personal data
  • Correct inaccurate information
  • Delete your account and data
  • Export your data (we'll provide a JSON dump on request)

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy occasionally. We'll notify you of significant changes via email. Continued use of FreelanceHQ after changes means you accept the updated policy.
